Innisfree Hotels Proposes New Development on Pensacola Beach

Innisfree Hotels is making waves in the hospitality sector with its latest proposal for a new hotel on Pensacola Beach. This ambitious project marks the third significant hotel development announced by the company in recent months, signaling a robust investment in the region’s tourism infrastructure. The proposed hotel, featuring 215 rooms and an estimated cost of $85 million, is set to rise on a vacant lot at 20 Via de Luna, the former site of the Clarion Suites Resort, which was severely damaged during Hurricane Ivan.

A Vision for the Future

Rich Chism, the vice president of development and asset management at Innisfree Hotels, recently presented the initial design concept to the Santa Rosa Island Authority. The proposal received unanimous approval during a committee meeting, indicating strong support for the project. However, further approvals and a groundbreaking are not expected until at least the fall of this year.

Chism expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, "We are excited to present these plans to the Santa Rosa Island Authority. We expect a project like this will help create fun and memorable experiences for guests wanting to visit beautiful Pensacola Beach." The development is anticipated to generate approximately 200 hospitality jobs during peak season, providing a significant boost to the local economy.

Sustainable Design and Amenities

One of the standout features of this new hotel concept is its commitment to sustainability. Innisfree’s sustainability director, Brittney Barnett, highlighted the project’s focus on energy efficiency and environmentally friendly practices. The design will incorporate energy-efficient mechanical systems, extensive use of LED lighting, and sourcing of local products whenever feasible.

The initial design includes an impressive array of amenities aimed at enhancing the guest experience. Plans feature an 11-story structure with a zero-entry pool that boasts a lazy river and slides, a two-story pool bar and lounge, a kids’ club, a poolside ice cream shop, and a lobby bar. These features are designed to cater to families and leisure travelers, ensuring that guests have a memorable stay.

A Growing Hospitality Landscape

This new hotel proposal is part of a broader trend of revitalization and growth on Pensacola Beach. Innisfree Hotels is also working on rebuilding the Best Western site, which was damaged by Hurricane Sally, and renovating the Hampton Inn. The Fairfield Inn and Suites, replacing the former Best Western, is expected to open next year with 209 new hotel rooms, further contributing to the area’s hospitality offerings.

The Hampton Inn renovation will include updates to the existing hotel and the construction of a new tower, enhancing the overall guest experience. Both projects are expected to be completed by 2024, reflecting a significant investment in the local tourism sector.

Conclusion

Innisfree Hotels’ proposal for a new hotel on Pensacola Beach is an exciting development for the area, promising to enhance the local hospitality landscape while prioritizing sustainability and job creation. As the project moves forward, it is poised to attract visitors seeking memorable experiences in one of Florida’s most beautiful beach destinations. With construction anticipated to begin in the fall and an opening slated for spring 2024, the future looks bright for both Innisfree Hotels and Pensacola Beach.
