Delta Air Lines Expands Summer Route Network for 2025

As the warmest months of the year approach, Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines is gearing up for a busy travel season by enhancing its summer route network. The legacy carrier has announced the return of seven seasonal routes from its hubs in Atlanta, Detroit, and Minneapolis–St. Paul, catering to the increasing demand for leisure travel. This strategic move not only aims to connect travelers to popular destinations across the United States but also includes a direct link to Latin America, showcasing Delta’s commitment to providing diverse travel options.

5 States, 1 Country

Delta’s announcement, made on a recent Monday, reveals that six of the seven returning routes will commence on June 8, 2025. The airline will utilize various aircraft types to accommodate thousands of passengers during the summer season. From Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Delta will deploy its Boeing 737-800 to Bangor, Maine, while the Airbus A319 will service flights to Rapid City, South Dakota. Additionally, the A319 will be used for routes from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) to Bozeman, Montana, and the Boeing 717-200 will operate flights to the Florida destinations of Pensacola and Destin-Fort Walton.

The A319 will also be the aircraft of choice for the Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport (MSP) to Jackson Hole, Wyoming route. All six routes will be available until September 7, 2025. However, the seventh route, connecting Detroit to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, will kick off earlier on May 10, 2025, utilizing the larger Boeing 737-900ER to meet the demand for travel to this popular Caribbean destination.

Bangor, Rapid City, & Bozeman

Delta’s flight DL2319 will operate as a Bangor-turn from Atlanta. The northbound journey is scheduled to depart at 10:00 AM, arriving in Bangor International Airport (BGR) at 1:00 PM. The return flight will leave Bangor at 2:00 PM, landing back in Atlanta at 5:00 PM. According to aviation data from Cirium, a total of 960 seats will be offered on this route across three frequencies in each direction. In July, the number of flights will increase to four each way, providing 1,280 seats, and in August, the capacity will rise to 1,600 seats with five frequencies scheduled.

For the route between Atlanta and Rapid City, flight DL1620 will depart Atlanta at 10:00 AM, arriving in Rapid City Regional Airport (RAP) at 11:30 AM. The return flight will leave Rapid City at 12:30 PM, arriving back in Atlanta at 6:00 PM, offering a total of 1,056 seats in July and 1,320 in August.

Pensacola, Destin-Fort Walton, Punta Cana, & Jackson Hole

Delta will also connect Detroit to Pensacola with flight DL1319, departing at 10:00 AM and arriving at 11:30 AM. The return flight will leave Pensacola at 12:45 PM, landing in Detroit at 3:45 PM. This route will provide 880 seats in July and 1,100 in August. Similarly, the flight DL990 will connect Detroit to Destin-Fort Walton, operating with the same schedule and capacity.

The Punta Cana route, DL1995, will see flights departing Detroit at 8:30 AM, arriving in Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) at 12:49 PM. The return flight, DL1844, will leave Punta Cana at 2:14 PM, landing back in Detroit at 7:04 PM. The Boeing 737-900ER will offer a total of 2,880 seats on this route in May, with 1,440 seats available in June and July.

Lastly, flights between Minneapolis–St. Paul and Jackson Hole will operate on Saturdays and Sundays, with DL2586 departing MSP at 6:10 PM and arriving in Jackson Hole at 7:42 PM. The return flight, DL2677, will leave Jackson Hole at 7:50 AM, landing back in Minneapolis at 11:11 AM. A total of 1,056 seats will be available in June, increasing to 1,320 in August.
