Additional Buses to Operate During Pensacola Beach Air Show

Share

As the excitement builds for the annual Pensacola Beach Air Show, scheduled for July 7 and 8, 2023, attendees can breathe a sigh of relief regarding transportation. The Santa Rosa Island Authority (SRIA) has announced a comprehensive plan to facilitate easy access to the event, ensuring that visitors can enjoy the spectacular aerial displays without the stress of parking and traffic.

Expanded Public Transportation Services

To accommodate the influx of spectators, the SRIA will enhance public transportation services along the island. In addition to the three free open trolleys that operate daily on Pensacola Beach, there will be an additional fleet of 10 buses dedicated to the air show weekend. This expanded service is designed to provide convenient and efficient transportation for both locals and visitors alike.

Schedule and Routes

Transportation services will kick off at 9 a.m. on Friday and 6 a.m. on Saturday, allowing early arrivals to secure their spots for the show. The buses will operate from two main locations:

  • Park West: Located at Lot 21 North on Fort Pickens Road, just before the entrance to the park, eight buses will depart from this area.
  • Park East: Five buses will leave from Lot 29.5 on Via De Luna Drive, situated just east of the Portofino Resort towers.

Both routes will make continuous trips to Casino Beach throughout the day, ensuring that attendees can easily access the main event area.

Designated Trolley Stops

To streamline the boarding process, passengers are reminded that pickups and drop-offs will only occur at the SRIA’s designated trolley stops. This organized approach will help maintain order and efficiency, allowing for a smoother experience for everyone involved.

Post-Show Transportation

For those eager to return to their vehicles immediately after the air show concludes, it is crucial to be on the first fleet of buses leaving Casino Beach. Given the expected traffic congestion, attendees who miss this initial departure may face a wait of up to 90 minutes for the next buses to return. Planning ahead and being mindful of the schedule will be essential for a hassle-free experience.

Conclusion

The Pensacola Beach Air Show promises to be a thrilling event, showcasing incredible aerial performances against the stunning backdrop of the Gulf Coast. With the SRIA’s enhanced transportation options, attendees can focus on enjoying the show rather than worrying about logistics. By utilizing the expanded bus services and adhering to the designated stops, visitors can ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience at this year’s air show.
